Pressable Is Moving to New Servers

Pressable moving servers

Technology changes daily, even minute by minute. Things get faster and more efficient with every new breakthrough, and companies need to stay on top of these advancements if they want to stay relevant. At Pressable, we want to make sure your site is taking advantage of the best, most up-to-date technology possible. That’s why we’re announcing our shift to a new server environment, where you’re our number one priority, and we take WordPress performance to the edge.

These new servers will be:

Fast: Currently, Pressable’s four-tier server architecture, which consists of web, file, database, and cache servers, all run separately. Our new architecture brings all of these technologies together, eliminating costly round trip network communications and dramatically decreasing latency.

Our new servers also utilize NVMe SSD storage. Pressable currently utilizes standard SSD technology, but NVMe SSD is almost 10x as fast as standard SSD tech. That means substantially improved I/O performance for all sites. And with server locations around the world (Amsterdam, Burbank, Washington D.C., and Dallas/Fort Worth), your site will never be more than a click away for your customers.

Reliable: While Pressable boasts a 99% uptime on our current servers, there will always be issues. No one can offer 100% uptime. But our new server architecture will help us get one step closer to that ultimate goal. The enhanced redundancy of the new servers will ensure that your sites are up and running when you need them to be, meaning minimal impact on your business during an outage.

Scalable: Perhaps the biggest improvement coming with the server migration is an improvement to scalability. This means that if your site experiences an unexpected jump in traffic, you won’t have to endure slow load times or outages. This is also important for your neighbors. If your site is sitting next to one that is experiencing a spike, it won’t be affected by the pull in resources. Your site will continue running smoothly.

While we are very excited about this move, we do understand that our valued customers may be apprehensive about it. We assure you that we will be as transparent as possible throughout the move. We do not anticipate any downtime with this migration, and you won’t need to take any action on your part. Just ensure your DNS is updated and pointed at us, and your site will continue to run as it has before (only better!).

The planned completion date for server migration is September 30, 2019. Over the next few months, our team will be working tirelessly to ensure that there are no hiccups during the process, and that everything runs smoothly. As we learn more about the migration, we will continue updating our customers with the latest information. If you have any questions or concerns about the move, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We’ll be glad to help.

Thank you for being a valued Pressable partner. We hope you’re as excited as we are about the migration.

Press on,
