By popular demand, Pressable is proud to announce an exciting new feature in our control panel that allows you to choose your primary datacenter when creating a new site, cloning a site, or migrating a new site to our platform.
This new feature empowers you to take control over where your site lives to deliver optimal performance and ensure visitors get an outstanding online experience. Choosing a specific datacenter is entirely optional – if you choose “No Preference,” we will select the best datacenter available.
Where WordPress Works Best Just Got Better!
Pressable is powered by the same data network as WordPress.com and WordPress VIP – the most powerful and reliable network for WordPress websites. All of our sites have multi-region redundancy and WordPress automatic failover built in. That means if you select a specific datacenter, you are setting it as your primary. Your website (or websites) are replicated in other locations to ensure reliability and availability.
Not Sure Which Datacenter Is Best for Your Site?
The best place to start is by checking Google Analytics. To do this, simply login to your account and click Audience > Geo > Location. Below the map you will see a list of countries; the server closest to your top rated location is the smartest one to select. If you’re in the US or Canada, click on your country to determine which state or province most of your traffic comes from.
If you are running a WooCommerce store, run a report of your customers to see where most of them are located. Select the server closest to your customers to ensure an ideal online shopping experience.
Here are a few recommendations:
If your audience is…
- Largely west of the Rocky Mountains
- In Asia
- In Australia
Then the Los Angeles datacenter is your best bet.
If your audience is…
- Between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River
- In Latin America or the Caribbean
Then the Dallas datacenter is ideal.
If your audience is…
- On the East Coast
- In Europe
- In Africa
- In the Middle East
Then the Washington DC datacenter is your ideal choice.
Remember, you may choose “No Preference”. If you do not select a specific datacenter, we will select the best one for your website based on available data.
