## How Gecko Agency Used Pressable MCP to Restore a WooCommerce Store With Zero Data Loss

Gecko Agency is a full-service web development and creative agency based in Missoula, Montana, building websites since 1996. When a longtime WooCommerce client’s live store suddenly went down, developer Dylan Pollard used Claude and the Pressable MCP to trace the outage to its root cause and restore the site in about an hour, with the live database, orders, and customers never touched.

## **How Gecko Agency Used Pressable MCP to Restore a WooCommerce Store With Zero Data Loss**

[Gecko Agency](https://www.thegeckoagency.com/) is a full-service web development and creative agency based in Missoula, Montana, building websites since 1996. When a longtime WooCommerce client’s live store suddenly went down, developer Dylan Pollard used Claude and the Pressable MCP to trace the outage to its root cause and restore the site in about an hour, with the live database, orders, and customers never touched.

## **The Challenge: A Storefront Down With No Clear Cause**

The client is a small, family-run specialty manufacturer serving the outdoor and sporting goods market, and a Gecko client for roughly ten years. When their WooCommerce store went down, the cause wasn’t obvious. A scenario like this would typically send a developer digging through raw server logs by hand: downloading them, grepping for anomalies, and correlating timestamps across multiple systems before even getting to a fix. Gecko’s team knew from experience that this kind of manual investigation could easily eat most of a working day, and there was no guarantee it would even turn up the real cause.

## **The Solution: A Conversational Investigation and a Scoped, Files-Only Restore**

Instead of the usual dashboard-and-SSH routine, Dylan used simple prompts to Claude, connected through Pressable MCP, to work the incident end to end:

- • Reviewed the site’s activity history for anything unusual.
-
- • Inspected filesystem timestamps using WP-CLI and Bash to narrow down when the change occurred.
-
- • Queried NGINX access logs down to the minute to trace the sequence of events.
-
- • Traced the incident to an unauthorized administrator account left over from a previous hosting migration.
-
- • Identified a clean backup from the day before the incident, choosing that snapshot deliberately since the day-of snapshot could have been captured after the theme was already gone.
-
- • Restored only the site’s filesystem, leaving the live database untouched, then made one small, separate change to reactivate the theme and flush the cache.
-
- • Verified the store was fully operational.

The engineer never had to leave the chat window, and the storefront came back with zero order, customer, database, or media loss.

> “I already use the Pressable MCP almost every day for simple tasks, but this one made me lean on it a lot harder. Running log forensics and a scoped, files-only restore conversationally took an incident that would normally eat most of a day down to about an hour, with zero data loss on a live store.”

## **Why Pressable MCP Stood Out**

Each Pressable restore point is made up of two separately addressable parts: a filesystem backup and a database backup, each with its own ID. The Pressable MCP restore call takes filesystem\_id and database\_id as independent, optional parameters, so whichever IDs are passed determine exactly how much of the site gets rolled back.

Dylan’s restore passed the filesystem ID only and left the database ID out, which kept the rollback on the file layer exclusively. The theme files rolled back to the pre-incident snapshot, while the live database, and every order and customer in it, was never in scope. No export, merge, or reconciliation step was needed, because the database was never touched in the first place.

## **The Business Impact: A Full Day of Work Compressed Into About an Hour**

• **A ten year client relationship protected** through a fast, precise recovery.

• **Restoration time:** about 1 to 1.5 hours of hands-on work using Claude and Pressable MCP.

• **Estimated time without MCP:** roughly 4 to 8 hours using Gecko’s usual manual process, with no guarantee the root cause would have been found.

• **Zero data loss:** the live database, orders, and customers were never in scope for the restore.

 > “Pressable’s MCP has quietly made us better at the unglamorous parts of client service – being fast and precise when something breaks – which means more of our week goes to the proactive, strategic work clients hire us for.”
