The Challenge: Locked Out of Their Own Site
Worship Times was founded by web designers, seminarians, and pastors who combine ministry experience with full-service web design, hosting support, and digital communications for churches and nonprofit organizations. The team knows firsthand what it feels like to lose control of a website: a catastrophic outage on a previous host years ago, one that took hundreds of sites offline with no word from support for days, is part of why Worship Times became a Pressable partner in the first place.
So when a new church came to them on a different hosting platform that was failing in a similar way, sites getting compromised and support going quiet, the Worship Times team recognized the pattern immediately. This time, the situation was more difficult to unwind. The client’s site lived inside a shared multisite installation controlled entirely by a third-party vendor. There was no database to copy and no admin login of any kind, which meant there was no way to export anything through normal means.
“I was really surprised that it actually worked. The site is really old, and we basically had no access to it. We were able to bring the church’s own content home to a place they actually own.”
– Michael Gyura, Founder, Worship Times
The Solution: Rebuilding From the Public API Through Pressable MCP
Michael tested what data the old site was still exposing publicly. The admin dashboard was locked down entirely, but the site’s public data feed, the same channel a search engine or mobile app would read, was wide open.
Using Claude Code connected to a new Pressable install through Pressable MCP, Michael and his team turned that discovery into a full site rebuild:
• Scanned every piece of content for malware before importing anything, a step the team treats as non-negotiable for any migration built from a live scrape.
• Stood up a new site on Pressable and used MCP to run WP-CLI commands and shell operations directly on the server, install plugins and themes, and monitor progress along the way.
• Pulled every page, sermon, staff bio, and calendar event through the old site’s public data feed.
• Rebuilt the site’s design from scratch by measuring colors, fonts, and layout directly off the live rendered pages, since the platform’s downloadable stylesheet contained only generic defaults rather than the church’s actual branding.
• Migrated thousands of media files and rebuilt the site’s navigation menu by hand, since menu configuration required admin access the team didn’t have.
It was not a smooth first attempt. The team hit real snags along the way, from tricky legacy file structures to matching design details pixel by pixel. But those early lessons turned the process into something repeatable.
“It was a painful first run that took a lot of time to learn lessons from. But with those lessons now learned, it’s a repeatable process that could be done affordably.”
– Michael Gyura, Founder, Worship Times
Why Pressable MCP Stood Out
Pressable sites have outbound internet access from the server shell. That meant the import process could run directly on Pressable and pull content straight from the old site’s data feed, rather than routing gigabytes of media through a laptop first. Every instruction, from installing plugins to deploying theme files to checking results, was issued through Pressable MCP, one of the first managed hosting WordPress MCP servers available to agencies. For a team without deep in-house engineering resources, having that level of server access available through simple prompts turned an unusual rescue into a workable service offering.
The Business Impact: A Repeatable Rescue
From first recon to a client-ready development site, the rebuild took five days:
- • Over 3,300 media files rehomed.
- • More than 75 pages rebuilt.
- • Nearly 300 sermons migrated, with playable audio recovered for the majority.
- • Roughly 175 calendar events re-created.
- • Zero broken internal links at handoff.
For Worship Times, the bigger win is what the process makes possible going forward. The team now has a documented, repeatable playbook for helping any client stuck on a locked-down or failing platform, and they’ve found an unexpected second use for it: running the same kind of discovery scan during pre-sales conversations to understand a prospective client’s site before ever signing a contract.
