PHP 8.1 Removal – December 9, 2025
PHP 8.1 reaches its end of life this December. Due to this, Pressable will no longer support PHP 8.1 as of December 9, 2025. We are planning ahead to ensure its retirement here will be as smooth as possible.
PHP 8.2 and newer offers significant performance and security advantages that will help your site.
Important Dates for Pressable Customers
- June 25th, 2025 – Pressable announces PHP 8.1 removal set for December 9th, 2025 (matching PHP.net’s lifecycle timeline).
- June 25th, 2025 – My.Pressable.com shows a banner alert for all sites using PHP 8.1 notifying users of the removal on December 9th, 2025 and linking to this post.
- July 15th, 2025 – PHP 8.1 removed as a selection option for all new sites. Sites using PHP 8.1 that are cloned will have access to PHP 8.1.
- December 9th, 2025 – All sites remaining on PHP 8.1 are updated to PHP 8.2.

You can download a Site Listing Report for your account, which will outline all sites using PHP 8.1.

What will happen to my sites that are running on PHP 8.1 when it is removed as an option for new sites on July 15th, 2025?
Any sites you have that are running PHP 8.1 will continue to use that version, and any clones (or staging sites) that you create of that site will carry over your use of PHP 8.1 as well.
All sites running PHP 8.1 will be automatically upgraded to PHP 8.2 on December 9th, 2025, so we recommend all customers begin testing and updating their sites as soon as possible.
What will happen to my sites that are running PHP 8.1 when it is removed from Pressable on December 9th, 2025?
All sites still on PHP version 8.1 on December 9th, 2025, will be updated to PHP 8.2. We highly recommend testing and updating your site(s) before then.
When will the next required PHP version upgrade occur?
As of now, the oldest available Pressable version of PHP will be removed each December (ex: PHP 8.2 will be removed December 2026). This follows PHP.net’s PHP lifecycle timeline.
To save time in the future, we recommend first trying to update to PHP 8.4 or 8.3, then downgrading to PHP 8.2 if you experience issues. PHP 8.2 will be retired in December of 2026.
