If you delete a site by mistake or change your mind, you can restore it yourself from the MyPressable Control Panel for up to 14 days after you delete it. The restored site is a new site, made from the deleted site as it was when you deleted it.
This article covers bringing back a site you deleted. To roll an existing site back to an earlier point in time, see How Do I Restore a Site From Backup in Pressable?
Only the account owner, or a collaborator with the Create New Sites on This Account permission, can restore a deleted site. The account must have an active plan.
The site comes back in the same environment it was in before (production, staging or sandbox). Restoring a production site uses one of your plan’s sites. Restoring a staging or sandbox site needs room in your plan’s staging or sandbox allowance.
Deleted Sites only appears in the menu when you have a site you can restore. You can always go straight to my.pressable.com/deleted_sites.
How Long You Have to Restore a Site
You can restore a deleted site for up to 14 days after you delete it. Each site on the Deleted Sites page shows a Restore by date and time (in UTC). After that time, the site can no longer be restored from the dashboard.
A site deleted with immediate removal (for example, a force delete through the API) is marked with immediate removal on the Deleted Sites page. These sites can only be restored for about 20 minutes after deletion, so act quickly.
If the restore window has passed, contact our support team and we’ll check whether the site can still be recovered.
How to Restore a Deleted Site
- Log in to the MyPressable Control Panel.
- In the left menu, under Site Management, click Deleted Sites. If you don’t see it, go to my.pressable.com/deleted_sites. If you’re restoring a site on another account you collaborate on, choose that account from the Account dropdown at the top of the page.
- Find the site you want to bring back and check its Restore by time, then click Restore.
- Read the This creates a new site notice in the confirmation window. Check the Site Name: if another site is using the original name now, the restored site gets a short suffix added to its name.
- Tick I understand this restores [site name] as a new site.
- Click Restore Site.

If you’re the account owner, you’re taken to your Sites list, where the new site appears while it’s being created. If you’re a collaborator, you stay on the Deleted Sites page and the site’s row shows Restoring as [site name]. You’ll get access to the new site when it’s ready, and it will appear on your Sites list.
What Is Restored and What Isn’t
Restored
- The site’s files and database, including your content, plugins, themes and WordPress users
- Notes, tags, plugin schedules and environment variables
- Usage history
- The site’s name, when it’s still available
Not Restored
- Domains: add your custom domains to the new site again.
- Backups and logs: the new site starts its own backup and log history.
- Add-ons: purchase any add-ons the site had again.
- Collaborators: collaborators with Automatically Add to New Sites are added for you, along with the person who restored the site. Add anyone else again.
- Jetpack: Jetpack treats the restored site as a new site.
The restored site also has a new site ID. If you use the site ID anywhere, such as in API scripts or integrations, update it to the new one.
If the Restore Doesn’t Work
If a restore can’t go ahead, a message explains why. Here’s what each one means:
- It’s too late to restore [site name] here: the restore window has closed. Contact our support team and we’ll check whether it can still be recovered.
- [site name] is already being removed: permanent removal has already started, so the site can no longer be restored. Nothing was created.
- Your plan has no room for another [production, staging or sandbox] site: delete a site you no longer need or upgrade your plan, then try again before the Restore by time. If you’re a collaborator, ask the account owner to free up room.
- [site name] has already been restored: the new site is already on the account. Look for it on your Sites list, or ask the account owner.
- [site name] is already being copied: a copy of the site is already in progress. Check your Sites list again in a few minutes.
- We couldn’t restore [site name] right now: something didn’t respond, so nothing was restored. Try again in a few minutes.
- Wait a moment before restoring [site name]: you’ve tried several times in a row. Wait a few seconds, then try again.
- Something went wrong restoring [site name]: the restore may or may not have started. Check your Sites list in a few minutes before you try again.
- You can’t restore [site name]: your account no longer has permission to restore sites on this account. Ask the account owner for the Create New Sites on This Account permission.
Restore a Deleted Site Using the API or MCP
You can also list and restore deleted sites with the Pressable API. The same permission and 14-day window apply:
- List Deleted Sites:
GET /v1/deleted-sites - Restore Deleted Site:
POST /v1/deleted-sites/{id}/restore, which requiresacknowledged=trueto confirm you understand the site is restored as a new site
If you’ve connected an AI assistant to the Pressable MCP server (see Tools → Pressable MCP in the control panel), you can ask it, for example, “Which of my deleted sites can I still restore?” or “Restore my deleted site my-site-name as a new site.”
